Data Protection and Confidentiality

All therapists/psychologists are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998. Any information  obtained will always be with your consent and may include verbal and written information. This  information may be obtained from other professionals working with yourself or your child or  family member including doctors, teachers, or other therapists. Your personal data will be stored in a secure facility and will only be  accessed by the directors and other clinicians subcontracted by Umbrella Assessment and Therapy.

Child/Vulnerable Adult Protection

Client confidentiality will always be observed, except where a child/vulnerable adult  protection issue is raised. If there is a good reason to suspect that a child/vulnerable adult  protection issue exists, then we are duty bound to share this with the relevant professionals.

Accreditation

All therapists are fully qualified and certified by the Royal College of Speech and Language  Therapists (certMRSLT) and the Association of Clinical Psychologists (certACP). They are  also registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPCreg). These are legal  requirements to practice speech and language therapy and clinical psychologist within the  United Kingdom.

Assessment Outcome

The assessment provides a detailed insight into strengths and weaknesses you (adult assessments) or your child has in relation to the different areas of the diagnostic criteria for autism. As clinicians we aim to  provide specialist clinical judgement and relevant recommendations to support you (adult assessments) or your child in  different areas of their development and functioning. The outcome of the assessment may be  that you (adult assessments) or your child receives or does not receive a diagnosis of autism spectrum condition, or in  some cases assessments can be inconclusive. In the case that your assessment is  inconclusive, we will make further recommendations for the next steps in terms of supporting  your child. If you are unhappy with the outcome of the assessment we are happy to provide an  explanation of our clinical reasoning; however we are not able to offer refunds or reassessments unless advised within the report.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service delivered, please contact Frances Roberts or  Dr Katy Atkinson-Jones directly as soon as possible. We will be happy to discuss your concerns and to hopefully resolve any issues in a timely manner. If you wish to instigate a formal  complaint, you may contact the HCPC (www.hcpc-uk.org) to discuss your concerns about any Independent SLT or Clinical Psychologist.

Consent Form

If you decide to go ahead with an assessment we will ask you to read and agree with these Terms and Conditions, and request that you complete a Consent  Form prior to the assessment.
